Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 9:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: We started our day with no wind and a calm sea, just like a lake. After about 15 minutes into the tour, we spotted blows belonging to 3 humpback whales!! What a way to start the day! One of them was Pongo, the dalmation whale, and this guy was resting on the surface. Every now and then it would move a bit and so an excellent fluke dive just 50 metres away from us, and what a view that was. We then proceded to the other 2 humpbacks that were frenetecally feeding near the harbour. Doing lunge feeding events, sideways and fluking a lot! They were Frodo and Ekki, two very hungry whales. We could even see the underside of them sometimes when they got almost at touching distance from us. We ventured a bit along the coast to try to spot something else but all we saw was amazing landscapes. On the way to the harbour we saw an amazing rainbow not before we stopped by the 3 "amigos" to say goodbye and have a nice whale of a day!

Report from Eldey: on our afternoon tour, the wind picked up a little bit, but the sun was shining during half of it! Looking out for the same whales we saw in the morning, it didn't take us long to spot the first blows. We decided to check 2 humpback whales that were feedin together, sometimes side by side, sometimes lunge feeding alone. And what an impressive sighting! Where to look? We had 2 whales close to us and so active! One of them rolled on the surface, showing a very pink belly, and every time it fed right underneath the surface, it showed a bit of the pectoral fin or the tail, on the side. The sun was shining so much that we saw several rainblows when they came up for a breath. We decided to leave these whales and check the other one that was sleeping very peacefully. It seemed like it recently fed, cause its blow was very stinky. Glamourous, but very stinky animals. Well, it's not everyday that we smell this breath, and we're here for everything! After sailing out a bit, we spotted 1 fast harbour porpoise, that we missed immediately with the waves. We also saw 1 grey seal, looking straight at us as always. Back to the area we saw the whales, now the sleepy humpback was back to feeding, and next to one of the ones we saw before. They popped up very close sometimes, giving us a nice look before we needed to head back home. Incredible afternoon at sea!
