CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: The seas were almost perfectly flat and the near-windless skies carried heavy clouds as we set sail this morning. After some searching around, we found a very large pod of 10-15 enthusiastic white-beaked dolphins. We witnessed them playing and jumping around us for quite some time and they even curiously approached the boat! As we eventually had to carry on, we stumbled upon a minke whale, which we got to see surface a multiple of times around us as well. But then, rumors of something bigger close by caught our attention. Lo' and behold, a humpback whale surfaced in the distance! This individual treated us to many beautiful fluke dives until we finally reached the end of our tour. At that point, we started sailing back towards port. However, not before we passed the same pod of dolphins again and to top it all off, we spotted 3 harbour porpoises crossing right in front of us! This concluded our morning tour with all 4 main species sighted. Great success!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The sea was very calm with no white caps at all and only weak wind. On the way out we encountered a rather elusive minke whale already. It came up right next to us for a short breath and disappeared after. We continued sailing further out and eventually spotted a blow. It was caused by a humpback whale. There were 2 of them very close to one another. They did not leave each others side but came up for short surface sequences only. We continued and found a feeding pod of white beaked dolphins that we could spend some time with. Before we went back home we found an area in which we found about 8 minke whales all around us. Another great encounter

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 17:00

Report from Eldey: Imagine flat seas, high clouds and the first snow resting on the mountain peaks surrounding the bay. This was the seting for what was about to become an incredible evening of whale watching. During the tour, we spotted at least 10 different minke whales all around us with one passing incredibly close by and another lunge feeding multiple times. We also spotted 3 humpback whales with 2 of them forming a pair while feeding. We witnessed multiple amazing fluke dives until a very big pod of 15-20 white-beaked dolphins caught our attention. They were jumping and playing around, approaching our boat and bowriding. Eventually, we had to leave all this spectacle behind and sail back, enjoying the gentle light of the blue hour.
