CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 0900
Report from Eldey: We set off under some cloudy skies this morning but the sun did come out later on in the morning. We even had a beautiful rainbow for most of the trip. It took us about 45 minutes of sailing before we started to spot some blows near other boats. We had found 2 humpback whales! One of them was even an old friend, Neila. They both were surfacing very regularly before going for shallow dives. So we didn't see either of them fluke very much. After a good time here we carried on and came across 8 harbour porpoises that were swimming very fast. But unusually we did see them surface a lot. Then ahead of us we saw 3 more humpback whales. They were all very actively feeding. One of these we also knew called Pep. It was such a treat to see them like this at the surface. Then on our way home we also saw a minke whale.

Report from Eldey: Sailing out again this afternoon, the wind and rain picked up slightly, but not stopping us from finding our sought out whales. Going back to the spots we had luck with this morning, we found again 3 humpback whales. 2 of them were seemingly feeding together, whereas the other one was our old friend Davy Jones 2nd, a humpback whale well known of the bay, seen for the last 5 years at this period. Oddly enough, all of them were diving for over 10 minutes each time, as sign that the feeding was happening in the benthos close to the sea floor. However, we managed to stay with all of them for over 30 minutes each, heading back home with everyone fully happy.
