CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 1300

Report from Eldey: We set off on this cold day in the direction of where we had such great luck yesterday. We sailed out passing many seabirds. Then after 49 minutes we saw a massive blow at our 1 o´clock from a feeding humpback whale! This whale would surface 4-5 times before going for very tall fluke dives. It would come up very regularly and so after a good watch we headed off to find other animals. After a bit of sailing in the distance we saw a couple blows but this first whale seemed to be very elusive. So we headed south east instead. Here, we had found the humpback party. There was a pair along with 2-3 other solo individuals. One of these individuals was Neila, so we have now seen her for 5 years in a row! They all came up lots to take a break from feeding underneath. The pair came really close a few times which was cool. Just as we were about to leave one of them individuals perfomed a peduncle throw too! This was the best way to say goodbye. Even on our back to the harbour we spotted another humpback. In total we saw approximately 6 humpbacks during the trip.
