Tour at 13:00
We had beautiful weather conditions today. It was sunny and the sea was calm. We headed out in to Faxaflói bay and soon spotted some splashes on the water surface. As the got closer we saw that there were harbour Porpoises. It looked like a family group of at least 3 to 6 animals. There were quite active coming close to the boat and surfaced quite often. After this nice start of our tour we headed on and soon spotted a Minke Whale. First it was quite elusive diving for a long time but when it came quite close to the boat and surfaced several times only 20 to 30 meters away from the boat. The minke changed directions really often it even went under our boat and came up really close to us again. After a while we headed on to not stress the Minke Whale too much. We spotted another Minke Whale this one was much smaller than the other one, maybe a younger one but when it went for deeper dive it stayed quite long under the surface so we headed on. We saw splashes in the distance and started heading towards them. When we got closer we encountered White beaked Dolphins a huge family group of at least 10 animals. We stayed with them and got really lucky. They stayed really close to the boat surfacing just next to the boat, going under the boat and they also started jumping out of the water. It was beautiful to see them so active and so close to our boat. Satisfied we came back to the harbour. It was an amazing tour with awesome whales today!!!
