Tour at 14:00

Report from Elding: When we sailed out there was a bit of sun peaking through the clouds but unfortunately the wind had picked up and there was quite a bit of swell. Most of the passengers came prepared and had taken a seasickness tablet before the trip. So we only had a few passengers feeling a little bit shaky most of the passengers however, seemed to enjoy the 'roller-coaster' ride. Unfortunately we were not able to find any of the lovely marine mammals in the bay and therefore we offered the passengers complimentary tickets.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: Most of the passengers on our afternoon tour had made use of the free seasickness tablets we keep on board, so even though there was quite a bit of swell in the bay we had not one seasick person on board - what an achievement! We also had a few good spotters on board - so overall a group of able seamen through and through! =)) The captain also did his part in keeping the boat in quite sheltered waters in the Northern part of the bay and leading us straight to a minke whale. It surfaced close to our boat as we were still just sailing along and of course we stopped to have a look. A couple of time we got some nice close-up views and other times the whale was a bit further away. We did manage to keep up with its frequent changes in direction for quite a while before we decided to head further out. But as the swell was rapidly getting higher further out we then the decided to make our way back towards the city with the wind in our back and the lovely sunshine that accompanied us on our way to the harbour.

Tour at 10:00

Report from Elding: We set out under rather rough conditions this morning with a strong wind blowing from the north and some swells to tackle while heading out into the bay. Nevertheless, many passengers decided to stay outside, wrapped in one of our overalls, to get a true Icelandic experience. After a bit more than an hour of sailing, we encountered the pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins Eldey had seen before and stayed with them for quite a while. They actually seemed to be more interested in our boat for some reason and surfaced only 5 meters away from the boat so that everybody could get good looks at them and take some nice pictures. Since we had sailed quite far out, it was soon time for us to head back to Reykjavik. On our way home we had the wind in our back, so that the sailing back was much more pleasant than sailing out into the bay. A nice dolphin encounter this morning.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: The weather was not great this morning. We had strong winds and some swells out in the bay. We pushed ahead making our way out in the bay. The boat moved quite a lot and it caused some green faces onboard. The ones feeling well could enjoy the movement of the boat and kept warm by using our overalls that we offer all passengers onboard our vessels. We scanned the waters for a long time and towards the end we had an observation of a pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins. We spent a long time trying to get good views of the dolphins but they surfaced fast and always in some distance. We had to return to harbour after a while and even though we all got to see the dolphins we decided to give out complimentary tickets so all passengers can return for another whale watching tour. We thought the dolphin encounter was a bit too difficult to get good views today. Over and out!

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik. It is a bit chilly today and there will be some strong winds from the north, so there will be movement on the boat out in the Faxabay.
