Report from Eldey: The forecast this afternoon looked reasonable with an aurora activity of 3/9, and only partial clouds. Nature is always unpredictable, many times we are pleasantly surprised with amazing light displays on low aurora activity levels. Unfortunately, sometimes the weather changes, or there is just a lack of solar activity and in these cases the lights may not be as bright as we would like or not at all visible. But tonight was NOT one of those nights! As soon as we left the harbour we had fantastic bright green lights spread across the sky. We were very lucky to have these very bright green lights burst out above us in the sky and over the mountain range of Esja, which was just fantastic! At one point we even had a ribboning of pink! The lights grew and waned but the lights were almost always present. What an lovely night!
