Status: RUNNING

Tour at 17:00

Report from Elding: Report from Elding: As we know it, perseverance can pay off in the most wonderful ways. That's why despite two unsuccessful tours we still departed in high spirits. There was little to no changes in the weather except the wind was now blowing from the South East. We went straight ahead toward the West until a blow stopped us in our tracks. It was a humpback whale! Disappointingly, the animal surfaced thrice before disappearing. We waited almost 20 minutes, keeping our eyes wide open around the boat, but we never saw it again. As the rest of our tour was only livened up by prolific birdlife, we offered complimentary tickets to everybody on board.

Report from Eldey: The sea conditions improved in comparison to this morning and we sailed out for our second tour of the day. The sea was still moving and we pushed our way through the wind and the rain in the search for the elusive cetaceans. After an hour and a half we saw a big flock of northern gannets that were plunge diving into the sea. In the middle of this commotion we saw a single minke whale. While we waited for the baleen whale to come out again, the gannets were giving us a spectacular show. We waited quite a wile and finally the minke whale showed itself quite close to the boat. Unfortunately the our time was running out, so we had to start heading back to the harbour. Even though most of the passengers saw the whale, we thought that this was not a satisfactory tour  and we decided to give out complimentary tickets, which means people got another chance to join us at sea.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: After several days of departures from Keflavik due to unfavorable sea conditions, today we decided to give it a try with a regular departure from Reykjavik! We got fairly good spotting conditions, and even though we received some slight raining or hailing there and there, most of the excursion was dry. The main challenge was a long and tall swell that caused few green faces but also put a little bit of fun in our cruising! The ride was fun, but sadly no whales were seen. We spotted some nice northern gannets and even a couple of arctic terns, but none of our cetaceans friends. We gave complimentary tickets to our customer for this  reason, and we cannot wait for the next encounter with our friends!
