Report from Eldey: After such a successful morning tour, we were keen to go out again this afternoon. Skies were more overcast now, making the visibility even better! While the first white-beaked dolphins we spotted were very elusive and only seen twice, the second pod of at least 6 white-beaked dolphins we found was much easier to watch, came very close to the boat and stayed with us for a good half an hour. Despite the drizzling rain, it was awesome to be outside and experience this. To put the sugar coating on top, we sighted a minke whale as we sailed back to Reykavik, which was also in a good mood and stayed with us until we ran out of time and had to leave it. A bay full of life both this morning and afternoon.

Report from Eldey: I could start every morning like this!! Calm seas, a stunning sunrise and a bay full of life. There was so much birdlife with various species and they were all gathering in flocks of over a hundred birds to feed on fish. As we approached them they would take off and fly all around us. Feeding with them were a minke whale as well as 6 white-beaked dolphins. The most beautiful thing was that all of the animals did not change their behaviour as we stayed within only meters of them, but remained in their natural life, showing us their true, untrained and wild way of life. Also a second pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins we encountered on or way back to Reykjavik was simply hunting fish, focusing on survival and not us. Nature the way it should be and the best way to experience it!!

Birds seen today: glaucous gull, icelandic gull, northern fulmar, northern gannet, common guillemot, razorbill, eider duck.
We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. There could always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office.
