Report from Eldey: What a beautiful winter's night! The temperatures were below zero degrees Celcius and we felt the crispy air on our faces as we sailed out from the Old Harbour. We provided our passengers with overalls to keep warm and to enjoy the cruise to the fullest. It was an exceptional night: we had barely left the harbour behind us when we already started seeing some green hues up on the night sky. Usually the hunt for northern lights requires a little help from our cameras since they are able to capture dim lights much easier and usually before our eyes do. But tonight this was not even necessary, as the green colours were visible to the naked eye right from the start! As the tour went on, the lights kept changing constantly, fading out and rekindling again and again. The times we were waiting for the lights to start again, we could observe the star-studded night sky with various star constellations, the most recognazible one being Ursa Major. After almost two hours, our passengers were warming up and having hot chocolates in the inside saloons, when two green arches suddendly appeared right above mt. Esja, and that was when the show began. The northern lights grew to be more and more intense and remained until the end of the tour. Our way back was illuminated by green flikering curtains dancing in the skies, providing this experience a great grand finale!
