My tour was cancelled - now what?
In the event of unfavourable weather or unstable sea conditions, we sometimes have to cancel our tours for safety reasons. We understand that time is precious and we do our best to contact our passengers in good time before departure. Keep in mind that you can always check our website for updates!
A cancelled tour doesn't mean you can't join us another time or make the most of your day in the city. There are numerous things to do in Reykjavík on a rainy day and many of our trusted partners offer experiences that are less weather dependent than ours.

Rebooking, requesting a refund etc.
COMBO TOURS:
Keep in mind that if you are scheduled for a combo tour and one of the services is cancelled, you will still be confirmed for the remaining part of the tour. A partial refund for the cancelled service will be provided upon request, but note that many of our combo tours are offered at a discounted rate, so the full price for the attended tour will be charged. Please contact our office for more details.
REBOOK YOUR TOUR:
The Elding team happily assists you with finding a new departure if you have the chance to reschedule your tour. Check our schedule to choose the time and day that suits your travel plans and get back to us via email so we can confirm your changed reservation.
CHANGE YOUR BOOKING:
In the event of a cancellation, we are often able to help change your pre-booked tour to one of our trusted partner's experiences. This could be anything from museum tickets to ATV tours or horse riding. Check some of the tours available below and get back to us via email or phone so we can move your booking quickly and efficiently.
REQUEST A REFUND:
Please email us directly to request a refund for your cancelled tour. Make sure to give us your booking reference so we can easily locate your booking and process the refund as quickly as possible. Note that refunds may take 3-7 business days to process and finalise.
THIRD PARTY REFUND:
In case you are unable to join us another day, you can email your travel planner directly to request a refund. Please note that other terms may apply when booking through a third party.
What to do on a rainy day in Reykjavík?
Go to a local swimming pool or geothermal bath:
Relaxing in a hot tub is what many of us like to do on a day off, or even after a stressful day at work. Meeting up with friends or bringing the kids on an outing to the swimming pool has been very popular among locals for generations. In recent years, many tourists have now caught up on this trend as it is both a cheaper and more accessible alternative to the nature baths on the outskirts of the city.
Here are some of the pools and geothermal baths closest to the city centre:

Stroll around Reykjavík:
A variety of shops and restaurants can be found on the main shopping street that ties the city together. At one end you will find the largest church in Iceland and the other a large glass building by the sea. There are plenty of things to explore in the city, no matter the weather.

What is the right season to see whales?
Whales and dolphins tend to stay in the vicinity of Iceland year round, so there really is no 'right season'.
