NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE | 21:00

Report from Eldey: With a forecast of clear skies and a kp of three, we were excited to go out on our northern light cruise tonight. The sea was quite rocky as we sailed away from the city lights, but once we got to a sheltered area we enjoyed a calm sea. There was a faint green hue in the sky. Suddenly, the dim green light transformed into a strong light with a shape of a long graceful curve that pierced the clouds. And then, there were two arcs, and three, and four! Like the keys of a piano filamentary dancing rays could also be seen caressing the sky. At some point in the night, one of the arcs convoluted into a curved band and other curious shapes. The auroras borealis stayed in the sky during all the tour, giving us plenty of time to admire them and take some nice photos.

NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE | 21:00

Report from Eldey: This cold night started with snow but as soon as we left the harbour the sky started clearing up and we could see stars through the gaps in the clouds. With a predicted kp-index of 4, we were hopeful to see the northern lights tonight and stayed out looking if we could see them through those gaps and some high clouds. As the night progressed, more and more clouds started forming and in the end the sky was filled with them, masking any activity of the auroras. Unfortunately we were therefore unable to see the northern lights, but we invited all passengers to come on another cruise with us with complimentary tickets.
