NORTHERN LIGHT CRUISE | 21:00

Report from Eldey: We started the night very optimistic, expecting a clear sky and a kp index on 3 which is pretty good. Unfortunately when we left the harbour the sky was completely covered with clouds. We went near the islands of Reykjavik to take shelter from the light of the city and of the swell. We waited for the sky to clear up, drinking beer, wine and hot chocolate and listening to music. After a while, if the sky was still overcast, some little gaps started to appear. In some of those gaps we could detect northern lights with our cameras ! That made us want and hope even stronger that the sky would clear up. We were low in time so we started to slowly head back home when the sky started to really clear up, unveiling many stars. A faded but visible arch of northern light appeared. After a while it was even a double arch, unclear but visible with naked eyes. Suddenly, the sky changed completely. First a green and bright snake appeared, then the snake became a dragon crossing the sky above our heads ! The northern lights were super bright, dancing with purple colour under the green. It was so beautiful, we felt lucky and happy that our patience was rewarded.
