NORTHERN LIGHT CRUISE | 21:00

Report from Eldey: Before the tour we had a clear sky, then it was raining, then clear sky again. We left the harbour and had rain again, but five minute later all the stars appeared again. Icelandic weather strikes again. The kp index was on 5 so we were expecting a very high activity. At first there was only faded lights, invisible for the untrained eye. There was actually an arch of northern lights appearing on our camera so we knew that some lights were present. We patiently waited observing the stars and planets in the sky, Mars and Jupiter being visible. We had to wait for 1h30 before the sky flared up in green lights. It started just above Esja and got stronger and stronger, starting with rays then with a moving band. It was beautiful and the lights kept going for a long time. When we were running out of time we slowly moved back to the harbour, still admiring the northern lights behind us.
