Today's whale watching tour is on schedule from Reykjavík this afternoon! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Our tour started with a slow breeze and little to no waves, but according to the forecast we had to be fast because the wind would pick up during the journey. About 15 minutes into the tour, near Videy, a blow was seen! It looked like something bigger than the great cormorants that we were seeing diving close to us, so we went there to investigate. Soon enough, it came up, a humpback whale about 50 meters away from us! It stayed close to us, and after a few breaths it took a great fluke dive, but... something was off. This whale is known, it was Pongo! A whale that we last saw in March of this year. This made us very happy to see our grey friend! It continued to swim slowly and always close to us like he knew who we were. Eventually, a harbour seal also made an appearance! After a few minutes of seeing Pongo, we turned to another blow, yes there was another humpback in the area, this one being a little bit more relaxed and ch.... Pongo just breached!! Ok, let's go there see if he does it again! Unfortunately, it didn't do it again, and we went back to the second humpie to check it out. After another few minutes, we said goodbye to both gentle giants and returned to the harbour with a strong wind facing us.
