Report from Eldey: This morning we headed into slightly wavy seas with a nice westerly breeze. After sailing for about half an hour, we spotted our first blow! As we were making our way towards the blow, a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins suddenly appeared next to us and we watched them porpoise along with the waves. Then, we found ourselves looking at a humpback whale! This whale surfaced a few times before lifting its fluke, and dove deep. It was taking long dives, so we moved on to another blow we had spotted in the distance. This was another humpback whale! While we watched this whale, many pods of white-beaked dolphins and at least 4 minke whales went about their day around us. After these lovely encounters, we began making our way home to land and returned happy as clams!

Report from Eldey: Amazing weather in Faxaflói bay today. As we were venturing out into the bay we got greeted by a small pod of harbor porpoises, which didn't stick around for too long. As we continues to sail into the bay, the height of the waves gradually increased, which made out trip quite bumpy. At some point we saw, far in the distance, a big splash of a whale lunge feeding. Once we got there we found a total of 2 minke whales and 4 humpback whales intent in doing deep dives, probably to reach some food close to the sea bottom. It was trickier than usual, since after each deep dive we couldn't know where they would be popping up again, but luckily we got to see a humpback from very close, and some of us even got sight of an unexpected breach!
