CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Another morning, another day sailing into the bay! The sky was overcast, the air was crisp and the overalls were on. With a slight breeze, we braved the weather in full gear up on deck and it did not take too long until we encountered a minke whale! Minke whales were all about Faxafloi today. We were lucky enough to see 4 individuals on our trip. Around our halfway mark we even had one spyhop right in front of our boat! This was around the time we checking out 2 humpback whales as well. The humpback whales were very busy with longer dives today, testing our patience a little. Alongside the minke whales, we had different sea birds around to keep us company, including the Atlantic puffin, Northern gannet and Northern fulmar. After all the excitement, everyone went belowdecks to warm up and with a slight drizzle we returned to Reykjavik.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: the ocean and sky were grey this afternoon as a strong eastern wind pushed us out to sea. We first encountered 2 minke whales, right next to the island Engey. They were both very busy feeding, so much so that we managed to get some very close encounters with one of them! We continued our journey outwards, where we managed to find an area with both a shy minke and humpback whale. Both vanished rather quickly, but while waiting we were entertained by a pod of 4 Harbour porpoises travelling by. To end our tour we stopped by the first minke again, and enjoyed this erratic animal until the time ran out.
