CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING 09:00

Report from Eldey: This morning we had a North breeze on our faces and a bit of swell, but nevertheless the sea conditions were amazing and we could spot anything from a far distance! We first spotted a minke whale, passing by. We realized we were in an area full of birds and even 2 more minkes around!  We enjoyed these whales for a while and then decided to move on and see what else the bay had in store for us. We spotted a blow in the distance and on the way to it, we spotted about 3 more minkes! Quickly after, we found a humpback whale! It was very calm and nice, then out of nowhere it did a peduncle throw! We realized we where running out of time and on the way back we spotted 2 pods of harbour porpoises! We enjoyed watching them feeding as we continued our way to the harbour. What a busy lovely morning!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: It was calm and overcast as we went out to Faxaflói bay. Soon we spotted some splashes on the horizon and as we got closer it was a pod of 10-15 white-beaked dolphins playing and jumping. We enjoyed the company of these lively guys for a while before continuing our tour. Next up was a speedy minke whale that we were able to smell even before we spotted him. This showed the origin of their nickname "stinky minke". After a good look at this elegant and fast baleen whale we went on to get a better look at something even bigger. A humpback whale was spotted in the distance and so we approached it carefully. This allowed us to get near the animal and as we drifted along it came really close to our boat! What a great tour in great weather!
