CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We departed the harbour into a bay with almost flat seas and a light breeze. We moved Southeast to search for wildlife, and soon were surprised by a pair of harbour porpoises, who surfaced slightly to our left, allowing many of our passengers to see them. However, as porpoises usually do, they quickly disappeared and we kept on with our journey. Soon after, we spotted two humpback whales, swimming some 500 meters apart from each other. We first spent some time with an larger humpback whale, watching it do very short dives. Then, we moved to the second humpback, a smaller individual, likely a juvenile, who was calmly swimming. Eventually, it was time to head back home, and we set course to Reykjavík. We even got lucky to see another pair of harbour porpoises on the way back!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The seas and winds were still incredibly calm this afternoon and here and there the sun managed to peak through the clouds. We searched all around the bay encoutering many harbour porpoises, with an estimated 8-10 in total. Eventually we also found a humpback whale! This whale was travelling around, going for short dives and treating us to a nice and high fluke dive each time. We stuck  with it for a bit, until it was time to say our goodbyes and go onwards. We then encountered a Minke whale, moving rapidly so we did our best sticking with it, getting some great looks at this beautiful whale. This then concluded our tour, allowing us to sail back to port very happily

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 17:00

Report from Eldey: The seas were calm, almost flat as our boat sailed into Faxaflói bay. We saw plenty of birds, like puffins, gannets and fulmars and, eventually, we had our first sighting, an agglomeration of harbour porpoises. They kept showing up for multiple minutes, and we likely saw at least, 15 of them. Eventually, by the second half of the tour, we came across a pod of 10 white-beaked dolphins. These dolphins were feeding and various social, approaching and swimming under our boat various times. After a good sighting, we left them be and sailed back to beautiful Reykjavík!
