Report from Eldey: On this unusual sunny day, 132 people boarded Eldey in hopes of seeing cetaceans. We were very excited to be here and on the way out, we stumbled upon an epic air battle between an Artic skua and an Artic tern. Unfortunately for the tern, the skua was winning. After that, we spotted our first whale. A minke whale surfaced quick and fast to our left, and then disappeared. So we decided to leave it be because in the distance there were small clouds coming from the surface. The blows of humpback whales! In this area, at least 5 of them were feeding, joining together and splitting up again. On of them was blowing bubbles and surfacing close to us. It was beautiful behavior to observe. We followed three of them for a bit and almost decided to leave, but the captain had a feeling so we waited. Suddenly, four humpback whales did a lunge feed right at the surface close to boat! Absolutely incredible, we could even see the baleen plates. On the way home, a big pod of 15 white-beaked dolphins joined our journey, racing trough the waves and swimming under the boat. We arrived to port full of new memories and learned to always trust the captain intuition.

Report from Hafsulan: On this sunny day, we were very excited to head out onto the bay. Before long, we spotted our first whale, a minke whale surfaced quickly before disappearing again. We decided to leave it be, as we noticed some blows rising from the surface in the distance. We soon saw our first humpback whale fluke before noticing three more a little farther away. All four humpbacks treated us to beautiful fluke dives, while an occasional minke whale would pop up nearby. Then we noticed more movement ahead. Two humpback whales were synchronized as they repeatedly lunge fed together surfacing close to us, creating a spectacular display. Incredible feeding behavior! Eventually it was time to head back and we happily left these whales and sailed to the harbour.

Report from Hafsulan: We stared our tour under sunny and bright skies. At the beginning of our tour we spotted a pot of six harbour porpoises that surfaced couple of times not fur from our boat. We continued further out because some splashes got our attention. It was tow humpback whales that breached twice rolling around and slapping there pectoral fins close to our boat. It was an incredible start of our tour. Soon after a minke whale joined the show. After some time we left these tow individuals to continue further out. Faxafloy bay was foul of humpback whales, we found our selves in an area with at least six of them. They where feeding, lots of birds present and twice they treated us this some fluke slaps. After this incredible show we came back to port with lots of excitement and many nice stories to say.
