CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: As we set sail this morning we had a bit of westerly wind and some clouds, though the sun was still shinning in the gaps! Not too far out into the journey we sotted some blows and went to check it out! We had a total of 4 solitary humpback whales feeding in the same area! We had dorsal and fluke popping up periodically all around us which was wonderful as no matter where you were on the boat a cetacean was most likely in your direction. We had a humpback surface right in front of us and then showed off their fabulous fluke! As we were watching our humpbacks, a pod of 20 white-beaked dolphins joined the feeding party! This pod was very playful and curious and they swam around our boat and started playing in our wake! When our humnpbacks resurfaced, they all started moving towards a similar area to feed. At one point we had on in front of us, two on our right hand side and one on our left hand side! It was really nice to watch their pectoral fins as they swam through the water. The dolphins also joined in and then two started juming all the way out of the water! It was amazing to see them rocket out of the water and splash down again! With so much action it was hard to pick a spot to look at! After multiple surface sequecnes from our humback whales and a great show from our energetic dolphins, it was unfortyunatley time to head back to port. We waved our cetaceans goodbye and headed back to port. What a wonderful start to the day!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 11:00
Report from Hafsulan: The start of our tour saw a slightly choppy sea, as we faced westerly winds and sailed against the waves. However, the wind calmed down as time passed and, eventually, we reached our first sighting. These were two humpback whales, swimming a few hundred meters from each other, while they each searched for food. We hanged around with them for a while, but them moved on, after they both went for a deep dive, showing us their beautiful tail. What followed next, was even more impressive. We first saw a large flock of birds circling an area. As we approached them, we could see two more humpback whales lunge-feeding and capturing tons of fish, near the sea surface. The highlight, however, might have been the 50 to 60 white-beaked dolphins that were also gathered there for a feast, capturing whatever fish the humpbacks left behind. Such was the magic of a feeding frenzy, where whales, dozens of dolphins and dozens of birds feasted on small fish. On the way back, we had a quick sighting of a minke whale, which also seemed to be heading towards the feeding frenzy we had left, just a few minutes before.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: We had a bit of sunshine and partly cloudy skies at we set sail this afternoon. There were many Atlantic Puffins flying to and from their breeding islands. It is always so nice to see our feathered friends when they are here for the summer months. Not too far into the bay we spotted some splashed and went to see who was making a commotion! We had found a pod of 25 white-beaked dolphins! These dolphins encircled us so not matter where you looked you would see them! They were curious and swam very close and under our boat. As we watched our dolphins we were surprised by not one, not two, but three solitary humpback whales! All of our cetaceans were feeding in the same area and we had our three humpbacks surface sequencing on either side of us and even in front of us! There was so much action all around us, what a really special encounter. The dolphins then started jumping right in front of us! It was incredible to see their entire bodies out of the water. After multiple surface sequences from our humpbacks and consistent dolphin viewing, it was time to set our sights for port. We had one last fluke dive from a humpback whale and off we sailed. On our way back to the harbor we spotted another pod of 6 more white beaked dolphins! After a nice viewing we continued back to port. What a great tour!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR 15:00
Report from Hafsulan: The southwesterly winds were still a little bit strong this afternoon, so we had some up and down movements on our way into Faxaflói. Our first sighting was of a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins, who came right up to the boat and swam under, but then disappeared. We continued in the direction of Akranes and were pleasantly surprised by a blow of a humpback whale. The humpback whale led us to a few more dolphins, who led us to even more dolphins, who led us to two more humpback whales! In the end, we were surrounded by about a hundred white-beaked dolphins and three humpback whales! The dolphins were jumping around, riding our bow, diving under us, and one of the humpback whales also came right up to the boat. Most likely these individuals were feeding, and we counted ourselves so incredibly lucky to take part in their food party.
