CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Today the bay woke up with a very calm sea, almost flat and an incredible visibility. After sailing a bit we spotted a pod of 6 white beaked dolphins getting closer to our boat, very curious. After enjoying their presence and their approaches, we continued sailing and suddenly we saw a blow at distance. It was a beautiful humpback whale, swimming calmly and allowing us to admire this gentle giant up close for several minutes. As other boats began arriving in the area, we decided to leave the whale to avoid adding to the noise disturbance. A little later we spotted three harbour porpoises, who surfaced surprisingly often. Later, sailing east, another humpback whale surprised us with a constant tail slapping at the surface of the water. This was a juvenile individual that make this behavior at least during 5 minutes! After this unique moment we sailed back to the harbor with a big smile in all of our passengers! What a start of the day!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 11:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was amazing as we went out. Slightly overcast, a little breeze from the north east and calm seas. Not far out we spotted the first blows of a humpback whale. Excited about our first sighting we got closer and admired the wonderful animal. But even before getting there something unusual happened. A minke whale, usually shy and fast to disappear, decided to check us out and surfaced mere meters beside our boat and diving underneath us. This stole the show of the humpback that, so it seemed, tried to win our attention back by rolling on the surface. The minke then went on its way and we refocused on the humpback that then went for longer dives. Two more humpbacks appeared in the distance and we went on to look at them as well. But the tour was not over yet. A pod of 6-10 harbour porpoises passed our boat on our way to an area where not just 3 humpback whales were active but also a pod of around 15 white-beaked dolphins played actively on the surface. At one point we had to decide what to look at. A problem which we did not mind at all. With all of our four main species sighted, this was an outstanding tour.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: At the afternoon tour the sea conditions remained the same, calm waters and nice visibility. We sailed back into the bay with high hopes to see cetaceans just like on the morning tour. After sailing for a bit, we spot our first animal a minke whale. This individual was a little bit shy with our boat, we waited for a while, but the whale did not return to the surface, so we decided to continue our search. We decide to keep sailing and we reached another area with two blows on sight , two humpback whales were there. These two individuals were incredibly calm at the surface, surfacing in perfect synchronization and treating us to some beautiful, slow-motion tail lifts. What an amazing pair of whales!. What an amazing pair of whales. Other boats were coming so we left the area after enjoyed their presence for ourselves. Sailing east towards Hvalfjörður, we spotted two more whales. One was another humpback but pretty close was a minke whale. We could see how different this two species are. A minke whale, the smallest baleen cetacean on the planet, came very close to our boat. We had an incredible encounter with this individual. Later, we slowly approached a humpback whale, our third of the tour. This individual was more focused on diving in search of food, although it still gave us excellent opportunities to capture amazing videos and pictures. What an amazing afternoon tour!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR 15:00

Report from Hafsulan: Our tour started out with overcast conditions and light rain but ended with calm winds and sunny skies! Twenty minutes into our tour we could already see whale blows in the distance, we were headed to a spot where other boats had warned us of cetacean activity. Before reaching the spot, we found one humpback whale travelling very fast and diving very often. We left it alone and continued towards an area where we could see two blow. We reached the spot, and stayed with the two most amazing humpback whales ever! they were lunge feeding at the surface over and over again, an incredible sight. Occasionally one individual would flip over on its side, showing us its belly and flippers, what a treat! We leave them after some time and find two more humpbacks along the way. We pass close to Hvalfjordur on our way home and some of us outside spot a seal and a minke whale. Overall an unforgettable tour!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 20:30

Report from Eldey: We headed out under the midnight sun, enjoying the beautiful golden light as we made our way offshore. After a bit of searching, we came across a large group of around 15 harbour porpoises. We didn't spend too much time with them, but it was fantastic to see such a big group swimming close to the boat. Continuing farther out, we suddenly spotted a large blow in the distance. As we approached, we discovered not just one whale, but three humpback whales traveling together, with a fourth humpback feeding in the same general area. Before long, the trio split up, and we stayed with two of the whales that were feeding side by side. They put on an incredible display, repeatedly bubble-net feeding together. Watching the pair coordinate their feeding behavior was a truly unforgettable sight and a perfect highlight to our midnight sun adventure.
