Report from Eldey - We headed out under cloudy skies with calm seas, making for pleasant conditions on the water. After a long search, we were finally rewarded with the sight of a humpback whale's blow in the distance. The whale was actively feeding and gave us a fantastic encounter, even surfacing just a few metres from the boat. As several other boats had gathered in the area, we decided to leave the whale after a short time to avoid adding to the disturbance. Continuing our trip, we came across a lovely pod of 10 white-beaked dolphins. They stayed with us long enough for everyone to get a great look before we headed back, ending the tour on a high note.

Report from Hafsulan: Today we had a cloudy morning without rain and with a little bit of swell. We enjoyed the fresh breeze as were sailing out onto the bay while we enjoyed the view of the wonderful landscape around us. As were moving, we encountered different seabirds from time to time, which was the perfect entertainment while we were waiting for something bigger. In the distance, we spotted a blow, so we went there to have a look. When we got closer we could see a tail coming out of the water, it was a humpback whale! This whale approached us very slowly and we had quite close encounters with it. It even did a few fluke dives very close to the boat which everyone onboard enjoyed. After spending some time with the whale we were happy to go back to the harbour since we were running out of time

Report from Eldey: In the afternoon, the wind had picked up a little, but we still had some sunrays making their way through the clouds above. Dressed in warm overalls and with warm drinks in hand, we all were excited to see what the afternoon had to offer. We sailed quite far out, admiring the seabirds and the beautiful landscape around, and crossing our fingers for tall blows on the horizon. It turned out that luck was given to the one who waits, because suddenly we spotted one - it was the exhale of a humpback whale! As we got closer, we were treated to several beautiful fluke dives, one time even with a very high arch of the tail. Excitingly, we recognized this whale by its fluke print from our photo ID catalogue, and could confirm it had been seen here in Faxaflói bay before. After some more close encounters with the humpback whale, we waved goodbye and started heading back to Reykjavik, full of new beautiful new memories!

Report from Hafsulan: Today was a bit cloudy, but we still had beautiful views all around us with the beautiful Reykjanes peninsula in the background. Today we had to go quite far to get to the hotspot where we had whales this morning. A big misty cloud came up from the surface in the distance. Judging by the size of the blow, we could guess that it was a humpback whale that we were dealing with - and we were right. We got to spend quite some time with it while it was showing off its fluke time after time and its beautiful and big pectorial fins. It even did a tail throw once, creating a huge splash that startled all of us. A lovely day out at sea!

Report from Eldey: As we set off again for the evening tour, some more clouds had drifted over the bay, though the swell from before seemed to have calmed down a little. We bundled up in  warm layers, and stepped on to the upper deck, filled with anticipation of what the evening had in store for us. We enjoyed the fresh Icelandic summer winds, and admired the cute Atlantic puffins that were overtaking us as they flew out from the local breeding islands in search of their favorite fish. Suddenly, a tall exhale appeared in the distance. As we arrived, we excitingly discovered that it came from a humpback whale. We were treated to a nice fluke dive, and could confirm that it was one of the individuals we had spotted earlier in the day. We could follow some more blows and diving behavior, before we also noticed some small splashes in the distance ahead. We stayed for the humpback whale for a little longer, and then headed off to discover that the commotion came from a pod of 6 white beaked dolphins. Suddenly, the surfaced just in front of our boat and started bow riding. surfaces. We returned back to the harbor full of joy after such beautiful encounters.
