  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00

Today's Whale Watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule as shown above! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: This morning we sailed out under a dark blue sky as the sun started slowly rising above the horizon. We sailed for a couple of minutes until we spotted our first cetacean, a minke whale! This minke was very small. We saw it for a couple of times until we saw another dark back. A little further ahead, there was a slightly larger cetacean which turned out to be a humpback whale! And it wasn't just any humpback, it was our dear friend Banana, feeding along in the shallow waters. Banana had a quite irregular diving pattern today, and popping up a bit far away than was last seen. So we decided to check other areas! We passed by Viðey and Lundey islands, saw Esja Mountain beautifully covered in clouds, and then we came back to the same area from before. We spotted the blow from Banana from a far distance, but before even getting there, we had another minke whale, this time bigger! This minke lunge fed in front of our vessel!! We saw the minke and Banana for a couple of times before returning to the harbour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: This afternoon we sailed out with a light rain. The visibility got a bit worse because of it, but it didn't make it more difficult to find whales! Once again, there was a humpback whale, our beloved Banana, going for a dive not far from the harbour. We stayed with it for a while, but as it was going away quite fast for such a calm individual, we decided to check other areas. Passing by the islands next to the shore, spotting many seabirds and beautiful mountains, we turned around and went to the same area where Banana was, hoping to find it again for a better look! We spotted it, but also a minke whale next to us passing by on our side. We spotted Banana next to the rocks of the harbour, very calm. Another minke, slightly bigger than the first, appeared! Afer one last, up close look at Banana (who had suddenly surfaced right next to the boat) we went back to the harbour, cozy with hot drinks on hand.
