We sailed out on Elding this time, clouds were gone and the sun had started to shine. We started the trip with a visit in Akurey. This time we didn't see many Puffins on the island itself but many of them were on the water around it and some flying above it. Out on Faxaflói bay we then found at least 4-5 Minke Whales. They were so relaxed surfacing all around us and so many times very close to us. It was difficult to leave when the time was up since the show was still fully on.

We started at the puffin island Akurey and saw lots of puffins. Out in the bay we found a very nice pod of white-beaked dolphins and a small calf with them. They were very busy feeding and some of them surfaced all around the boat. Actually all the whales were great this afternoon. In one area we found at lest 8-10 minke whales. Some surfaced far away while others came very close, 5-20 meters from our boat. Awesome. So once again a very successful tour.

Beautiful weather out on the bay this trip. We started out by visiting Akurey to see the Puffins. So many of them sitting around the island, on it and flying above it. Out on the bay we first spotted a beautiful and calm pod of Harbour Porpoises, and not that far away we got to an area with so many Minke Whales. They were all around us both close to the boat and further away. Great trip.

Report from Hafúlan: Still very calm sea conditions on our first trip out into the Faxaflói bay this morning. The puffins on Akurey were scurrying around the island evading two big black-backed sea-gulls trying to take a pick at the eggs and sitting in a big flock on the water surface, letting us take a good look at them. We had to head quite far out into the bay until we found our first Minke whales but all of a sudden there were loads of them and all over us. Making surprise surfacing‚ 2m away from the ship, they kept everyone rushing from one side of the boat to the other. Must have been some 15 animals in total. At the same time, some Gannets were diving into the water from steep heights. A very enjoyable and pleasant ride indeed!
