Tour at 17:00

Again we sailed very far out to were the Minke Whales were on the previous tour but unfortunately the flocks weren't there anymore but we did see at least 2-3 Minkes without the birds. They were however very difficult to follow. Only surfacing twice before disappearing and then resurfacing in a very unexpected spot. The glare from the sun was very harsh also so I bet they were hiding in the glare. Sneaky Minkes on this tour.

Tour at 13:00

It wasn't long before we saw a small pod of Harbour Porpoises. Then we sailed very far on this tour but we were rewarded by massive flock of feeding birds. There must have been so much fish around which attracted the Minke Whales too and yes they did. We must have seen at least 4-5 Minke Whales on the tour. They were fantastic surfacing only 30-40 meters from our boat, feeding under the flocks of birds and I guess enjoying the plentiful food about. Very good tour.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Elding We sailed out today in a beautiful weather, calm sea and the sun was shining. We sailed straight out to Faxaflói bay and pretty soon we saw a pod of harbour porpoises. They surfaced many times very close to the boat and even breaching out of the water, just fantastic. And while we were enjoying the harbour porpoises a minke whale surfaced in front of the boat. It surfaced few times and soon after that we found another minke whale and that one surfaced even closer or only 10 meters away. After taking a good look we spotted a big group of feeding birds, and even more harbour porpoises. We spotted 3 other minke whales quite far away but they only surfaced once before disappearing. And right before we had to head home we spotted a blow from a group of birds, and actually found 2 nice minke whales in the area. So a nice ending on the tour. We stopped by Akurey to visit the puffins on the way home and saw few hundreds of them. Great day and a great tour this morning.

Birds seen on today's tours include, Puffins, Guillemots (Common, Black and Brunch's), Razorbills, Gannets, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Arctic Terns, Arctic Skuas, Gulls, Eider Ducks and Oystercatchers.
