Tour at 13:00
The afternoon was somewhat like the morning, with the poor visibility (about 100m) so it took us a while before we saw anything. A while later in the tour a Harbour Porpoise leaped out of the water just in front of the vessel probably making sure we could see him. He led us to a small group of them coming clearer out of the mist as we slowly moved closer. A little while later another species jumped just in front of the boat this time it was a pod of about 10-20 White-beaked Dolphins, leaping and breaching out of the water. Unfortunately we didn’t see a Minke Whale but we smelt the fishy smell from their blow so we knew there was one in the area but we couldn’t find it. We saw loads of birds, Gannets, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Gulls, Puffins, Guillemots and one Arctic Skua. So even though the visibility was poor I think the tour was very successful.

The weather didn’t stop us from sailing out to Faxaflói this morning. The wind was not troubling us because there was none but the fog, the fog was like never before. The visibility was only 50-100 m. After sailing for some time in the eerie fog, we were quite lucky to spot the first Minke Whale. It surfaced very slowly 3 times, only 50 m. in front of us. So all the passengers could see the animal quite well. The second Minke Whale came up further away only two times before disappearing. We also spotted many times the small Harbour porpoises but every time they were very difficult to approach. In the end of the tour we found two big groups of Harbour Porpoises which were not very shy and we stayed with them for a while. Suddenly a ghost boat appeared in front of us and we thought it was The Flying Dutchman but it was only another whale watching boat.
