Tour at 13:00

After sailing for 45 minutes we spotted a small and shy group of Harbour Porpoises which dove away. Then we saw a blow from a Minke Whale further out. When we got closer we saw there were allot of birds in the area, feeding on Sand eels. We could even see the Sand eels in the surface. We stopped the boat and turn off the engines. There were many Minke Whales in the area and one small one. The small Minke came very close to the boat, swam under it. Put its pointed snout out of the water many times and was feeding very close to the surface, lunge feeding. Unbelievable, what a show. I guess we had about 6 Minke Whales in the aria, some surfacing close others further away. This was a very successful trip with many interesting sightings.

Report from Hafsúlan

First we spotted a blow from a whale, it came twice but we didn't spot the whale itself. But we kept on searching and then Harbour Porpoises came up really close to us, there were about 8 of them together and then at the same time a Minke Whale about 250 meters away from us, we were about to head over to it when another Minke Whale came up really close to us. It was so good. We also stumbled up on some White-beaked Dolphins and at one point few of them swam under the boat so we were able to see them clearly through the water. After the Dolphin show we found another Minke Whale, a really nice one, it even came once out of the water lunge feeding, so beautiful to see them do that, when they come out of the water with the head first and mouth open. On the way back we then stopped by Lundey, one out of two Puffin colonies here close to Reykjavík.

Report from Elding. We started the trip by visiting the Puffin-island Akurey, but there were not many puffins at home. The weather was quite good, a little bit windy and cloudy. In the beginning we spotted a small group of Harbour Porpoises, but they were very shy and disappeared. Suddenly a Minke Whale surfaced just 50 m. in front of us and also a group of White-beaked dolphins. The Minke Whale was diving for a long time but the dolphins were playing all around us. After spending some time with them we went further out and spotted many Minke Whales. One or two came very close to us so all the passengers could have a good look at them and enjoyed them allot.
