Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan and Elding: The weather changed slightly from the nine o clock tour we were able to see the sun and a blue sky we hope this indicates that the winter may be ending finally.  Passengers on Elding seen harbor porpoises staying in line with the boat this got a great reaction from the passengers and they all hurried to the sides to look for more. Although this was at the end of the tour it made the passengers more happy and hopeful. In the beginning the passengers were a little seasick but after a while this calmed and all were feeling better at the end of the tour after the porpoise sighting.  This was the only cetacean seen on today’s tour and it was unfortunate that only Elding got to see the harbor porpoises. Although this was the only citation there were many seabirds seen throughout the tour.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: it was raining a lot on this morning tour and the passengers made great use of our overalls.  The swells had increase due to high wind pressure coming from the north. Due to this we stayed close to land to try and better shelter the boat and passengers. Although no citations were around there was a large verity of seabirds these were easily spotted as they flew close and around the boat. As has been normal over the past few days the return journey felt smoother as the sea had calmed slightly and the swells had decreased.   Unfortunately there were no cetaceans on this tour so due to this we handed out complimentary tickets to each passenger that requested it.

Birds seen on today's tours: eider duck, common guillemot, northern gannet, glaucous gull, kittiwake, black-backed gull, and european shac.
