Report from Hafsúlan: This morning we went out from Reykjavik, in search of cetaceans (whales, dolphins or porpoises). We were traveling towards the Snæfellnes Peninsula close to the coastline to gain more shelter. It got a bit rough when we were passing the Whale Fjord and decided to travel into the Fjord were the sea conditions were much better in the hope to spot cetaceans. We moved further inside into the direction of Iceland´s highest waterfall, Glymur (196m high). On this way we passed several areas were small waterfalls were frozen solid, which showed how cold it was today. This is why many of our passengers took use of the warm overalls we offer on board. On our way out of the Fjord it started snowing, which made the ride for beautiful and smoother especially since we were traveling with the wind. In the last 20 minutes several different birds were following the boat, for example fulmars, gannets, black-backed gulls. We even spotted two puffins which just started returning to Iceland in the last few weeks. Unfortunately no cetaceans were observed on this tour so we offered our passengers complimentary tickets.
