Report from Hafsúlan: On this afternoon tour we departed from old Reykjavík harbour. We left with only one researcher on board and a small group of passengers. We went to the are where we had spotted dolphins on the mid-day tour and there we spotted a very elusive minke whale. The minke surfaced very little at a time, did not do a complete surfacing sequence before going on a dive and went in erratic directions. We think there may have been two individuals because the minke was spotted going in two different directions within a short amount of time but unfortunately we could not get clear enough pictures to say so with full certainty. After following this elusive minke for quite some time we headed back to Reykjavík harbour.

Report from Hafsúlan: The sea conditions were more favourable so we departed from the old Reykjavík harbour. We headed towards the area where Midi (a minke whale seen since 2008) was last seen yesterday and where we had seen quite a lot of bird life on the morning tour. There we found a group of at least 5 harbour porpoises that surfaced frequently. We got a report that dolphins had been spotted nearby so we headed towards that area and saw a group of at least 3 white beaked dolphins that surfaced along and in front of the boat so the passengers got a good look at them.

Report from Hafsúlan: This morning we went out from Hafnarfjörður due to unfavourable sea conditions in Reykjavík harbour. We headed straight to the area where we had seen Midi on the previous day. We saw a lot of seabirds and spotted a harbour porpoise twice on the tour. We returned back to Reykjavík harbour in more favourable sea conditions but because the cetaceans that were seen on the tour were very elusive we offered all of our passengers complimentary tickets that will be valid for the next two years.
