Report from Eldey: Due to the great success in Grindavík we ventured out from there again, the weather was more challenging with snow storms passing through and tough sea conditions, which got worse than expected on the way home. After 40 minutes of sailing a blow was sighted (the breath of a humpback whale that can reach 2-3 meters high and easily visible), then suddenly a second humpback whale surfaced about 300 meters from the boat. We had to wait then for a long time but after 10-15mins a humpback whale surfaced just 40 meters from the boat and everyone got to see it very well. Captain had told us that he was seeing a lot of herring on the fishfinder and so we hoped the whales would surface again close after their long dives. Then unfortunately a snow storm came and the visibility was very poor and we had to wait for it to pass before a passenger spotted the humpback again. It was also a little difficult with the front speaker, which was having technical difficulties the water to the coffee machines was frozen and so our lovely passengers had to wait 20-30 minutes before they could have a warm beverage. Thankfully our passengers were lovely and enjoyed the adventure with us in the North Atlantic on a cold winters day.
