Tour at 17:00
Report from Hafsúlan: The wind had picked up since the 13.00 o'clock tour and it had gotten colder as well. At the beginning of this tour there weren't that many waves, but it all started to change after a couple of hours, when the sea started to get a little rocky and we also had some shy drops falling on us. About an hour and a half after the starting of the tour our captain spotted in the distance a minke whale, which we tried to follow. After a couple of minutes of uncertainty, we managed to see it again coming a couple of times on the surface, and then we lost it. Then we did our best trying to spot more cetaceans but we were unlucky, and in the meanwhile the weather got worse and worse by the minute. As we were unlucky this time, we offered our passangers some complementary tickets, so they would have another chance to enjoy the awesome cetacean diversity we have in our Faxa bay.

Report from Hafsúlan: The wind had decreased a little bit since this morning and the sky remained dry throughout the tour. Right when we left the harbour we got news of a humpback whale right outside Reykjavík harbour. It only took us a couple of minutes to reach the area! It happens on regular occasions that we get whales close to the city but nothing we get used to onboard and it is always a special feeling seeing them so close to the city. This humpback was difficult in the beginning and we could time it staying under for dives between 8-10 minutes. Between the long waits for it to resurface it sometime traveled quite far away from us. Luckily the whale changed its behavior towards the end and spent more time at the surface. We could end the encounter with the fluke raised two times when it went for deeper dives! After that we took a route further out to try finding something else. We found a pod of 3-4 harbour porpoises but they disappeared quickly. We returned to harbour happy over the humpback that visited Reykjavík city.

Report from Hafsúlan: We left the harbour this morning in some wind and swells. The boat rocked from time to time out in the bay but we had good visibility which is always good when you search for whales and dolphins. It took some time until the first sighting appeared. It was a pod of 6-7 white-beaked dolphins. In the beginning we had two dolphins coming right up to us showing themselves really good to our passengers and we could see them through the surface of the ocean. It was a very nice dolphins encounter with this pod. When we had lost sight of them we continued searching and found harbour porpoises little bit everywhere in the bay we had a tour total of about 15-20 individuals, but all encounters were brief and they soon were gone. We returned to harbour after a dolphin morning out in the bay.
