We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. It is a beautiful day and the sun is shining. It is a bit cold but we have warm overalls on board for everybody. There could be some movement out in Faxa Bay after the swells yesterday.

Report from Eldey: We sailed out into the Faxa bay, full of hopes after the good encounters of the morning and afternoon. The sun was still shining without clouds disturbing this atypical September evening in Iceland. After almost one hour of sailing we encountered a pod of 6-8 white beaked dolphins. The curious animals approached us and checked the boat. After a few moments with them, we were quite excited to see another pod of dolphins jumping in the distance. We tried to approach it, but we lost the track of them. We spotted a shy blow as well, maybe from a minke whale, but we didn't managed to see the body of the animal. Just right before start heading to the old harbour, we spotted another pod of 5-7 individuals of dolphins, with 2-3 calves, that were extremely playful with the boat, riding the waves that our traveling was producing. A beautiful way to end the last tour of the day!

Report from Eldey: We had amazing weather conditions today: sunny, clear blue sky, calm sea and great visibility. During this tour we encountered 4 minke whales. All individuals were a bit elusive and minding their business, surfacing mostly just twice and leaving for longer dives. Nevertheless, we were patiently waiting them to surface up and all the passengers got a chance to see them well. We also encountered a pod of around 6 white-beaked dolphins with which we could stayed for a while. They were surfacing very close and even passed next to our boat few times. It was very lovely to see them so close and traveling slowly. On our way back we also spotted one individual of harbour porpoise. This small cetacean surfaced 3-4 times with most of its body above sea surface so all the passengers who were still on the upper deck had a good look at it. During the tour we also enjoyed watching impressive northern gannets fishing.

Report from Eldey: We sailed out this morning in beautiful weather and perfect spotting conditions. It was a bit cold but with our red overalls on we were ready for anything. We sailed for quite a while before we spotted some harbour porpoises but they were very shy so as soon as I mentioned them they disappeared but we saw them popping up now and again throughout the tour. We then spotted something bigger and it turned out to be a minke whale. We were able to stay with it for a while and when it went for a deep dive we decided to check out some white-beaked dolphins we had heard were in the area and it turned out to be a small pod of about 4-5 individuals. They even started playing with the boat and came really close to us! On our way back we spotted another pod of 3-4 white beaked dolphins and some more harbour porpoises but we saw 8-10 of them on the tour. A very nice tour with three species of cetaceans and beautiful weather!
