Tour at 9 am and 1 pm: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the old harbor in Reykjavík today. We are having some rain and wind and therefore expecting that the sea conditions will be a bit choppy.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The wind direction had changed since this morning so the wind wasn't as strong when we left the harbour. We had been sailing for a while when we heard about a pod of about 4-5 white-beaked dolphins but as we were sailing towards it we noticed some huge splashes in the distance and decided to keep an eye on that area while watching the dolphins. They came close to the boat but soon disappeared so we set our course to the splashes which turned out to be another pod of 3-4 white-beaked dolphins. They were leaping out of the water and coming towards us as well and soon they were joined by a third pod of 7-8 individuals so we were actually surrounded by dolphins at one point leaping all around us. We even got to see some sideways and backwards leaping which is always fun to see! We stayed with the dolphins until it was time to head back to the harbour. On our way back the wind picked up and it started raining again but that was just the perfect opportunity to head inside and get some hot chocolate.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: Our expedition this morning was quite the experience ! We could experience adventurous rainy and windy sea conditions , but on the way out we stayed close to Snaefellsness so the shaking was kept relatively low, thanks to shelter from land. Most of our trip consisted in a patient and thorough searching in the bay, the weather caused few green faces among our passengers, but we hope the 6-8 white-beaked dolphins we saw made up for it ! It took us a while before finding them, but luckily for us they seemed to be intrigued by the boat and came close to us on several occasions. And as they circled around the boat, it gave good opportunity for everybody to have looks at them. After staying 10 minutes with us they left, then it was time to make our way home. We had a last trial from Icelandic wind before reaching Reykjavik, but everybody did a great job withstanding it !
