Tour at 9:00
Report from Eldey: Leaving from Hafnafjordur made our way out a bit smoother than it would have been from the old harbour in Reykjavik. Nonetheless, the swell was long and the waves tall enough to feel a bit seasick. Even with many seasickness tablets given in prevention to what we had ahead of us. They worked out in many cases but not in all unfortunately. Furthermore, there was a really good atmosphere on board because a couple got engaged on today´s tour! I even served them some sparkling wine and shared some words with the couple. I wish them all the best. Wildlife wise, we saw a lot of different bird species. We even saw the two different phenotypes of the northern fulmar. This one is for the bird lovers ;). At the end we found a pod of 3 white-beaked dolphins that were most likely feeding. Hard to tell some times. Since our passengers did not have a good look at them we gave out complimentary tickets which are valid within 2 years from now. I hope our passengers give it another shot some time soon. Rough tour with happy weeding ending!

Tour at 13:00
Report from Eldey: The sea conditions had been pretty rough throughout the day but the sea was calmer when we headed out. We decided to head straight for the area where we saw the white-beaked dolphins on the last tour but sadly there were none to be seen in the area so we just kept going. When we were running out of time and had to start heading back to the harbor we noticed a flock of feeding seabirds and it looked like there might be some cetaceans there as well and, sure enough, a minke whale! It surfaced twice before going for a deeper dive but unfortunately we didn't see it resurface. The search continued on our way back to the harbour but unfortunately we were unsuccessful in our search for more cetaceans. This is unpredictable wildlife so there are no guarantees but of course we are always disappointed when we don't see something. Therefore we offered all of our passengers complimentary tickets which are valid for two years so they can come on another whale watching tour with us and hopefully we will have better luck next time!
