Report from Eldey: Today started off with a little bit of snow, but it was partially sunny and dry for almost the whole tour. The wind was blowing sometimes quite strong and our passengers could experience some true Icelandic sailing, but overall we had good sailing conditions today in the bay. After almost an hour we heard on the radio that multiple white-beaked dolphins were in the area. When we reached the location, we realized that we had 3 different pods in in front of us. We were immediately greeted by a dolphin leaping out of the water artistically multiple times, really a great start of the encounter. The first half of our time we spent with a pod of 6-8 individuals and could see them surfacing many times quite close to the boat, before we headed further out. Only 15 minutes later, we encountered one of the other pods, this time it were 4-5 individuals and one of them were the dolphin called 'Funny'. It's always great to see well-known faces in the bay and Funny has been seen almost every year since 2007! When it was time for us to head back, we had a special moment when the dolphins came to check us out and we could observe them directly underneath the water surface. A great day out in the bay!
