Status: RUNNING

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik on a quite calm and beautiful day. There could be some movement on the boat out in Faxabay and with 1°C it might be cold too but we have heated indoor areas on board and we also have overalls to keep you warm out on deck. We are looking forward to welcoming you to our tour!

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in Faxa bay on a really beautiful sunny afternoon, with just a little bit of wind and almost no waves to disturb our sailing. Approximately 30 minutes after our departure we spotted with the binoculars a Minke whale, really far away. We didn't hesitate and went to give it a look but after almost 15 minutes of wait we didn't manage to spot the cetacean again, and therefore we proceed our travel. After that we received a call from another boat: they had found a small pod of around 5-7 white beaked dolphins. We checked them out, and we understood that they didn't really look in the mood of human-watching. They were indeed rather elusive, maybe they were simply resting and didn't want to be disturbed. Either way we got to see them a few times. Is also nice to have this kind of encounters, they remind us that at the end this is wildlife, highly unpredictable, and it's us the ones that have to adapt to their mood!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: Our departure happened in excellent conditions, with good lightening and easy sea in the bay. Naturally we sailed with optimism and enthusiasm, and our excitement peaked when we met a minke whale ! For this finding credits need to be given to our passengers, as they were the one spotting this very sneaky individual, surfacing low and quickly. Unfortunately for us after the whale went for a deeper dive it did not resurfaced in our vicinity, and we took the decision to resume our searching. We were impatient to find other species or easier individuals, but sadly there was no more sightings on our tour. This is why at the end of the trip we distributed complimentary tickets to the passengers, so they can try again soon and hopefully have more success !
