Report from Eldey: The conditions where very nice for whale watching. It was a bit cloudy but we didn't get any rain and also the waves were very calm. When we left the harbour it didn't take us much time before spotting our first cetaceans. Close to Hvalfjord we found a minke whale, he was very elusive and difficult to spot again. So we continued our way. Beside flock of feeding northern gannets in the middle of bay we didn't saw much. We almost wanted to start going back to the harbour when we got a call from one of the other whale watching boats that they had jumping white-beaked dolphins! When we arrived the dolphins where still there and they where jumping so high! It looked like there where to little dolphins playing aroud with there mother, so nice! They were close the the boat at jumped many times, it was amazing to watch them. On the way back we saw very quickly another minke whale surfacing. And one more pod of white-beaked dolphins came to bow ride with us for a while! At the very end we had a chance to spot one harbour porpoise close to the harbour.

Report from Hafsulan: Weather conditions were better than expected, specially after a stormy weekend so we sailed out with all our hopes in the backpack. The sea was quite calm so we started to scan Faxafloi looking for whales, dolphins and porpoises. We heard reports about an elusive minke whale in the area but we couldn't´t detect it. After a while sailing, we saw a solitary harbour porpoise appearing in front of the boat and disappearing extremely fast. As long as we came back to the harbour, we offered complimentary tickets to our passengers so they can enjoy a second chance with us.

Report from Eldey: It was a nice afternoon, no high waves and dry. It took us a bit of time before spotting our first cetaceans. But than we got to see a minke whale. He came up a few time and when we thought he went for a deeper dive soon he came up again in front of the boat, showing himself very nice. We continued and found a pod of 6-7 white-beaked dolphins. They were moving around a lot and difficult to follow, but we did get a good look at them. On the way back an other minke whale surfaces very close to us, so cool! We all got to see this one very good. It was a nice tour.

Report from Hafsulan: Sailing out, conditions were actually better than the forecast had predicted. The sea was very calm and wind was blowing slow from the north. Only after about half an hour we spotted some white-beaked dolphins leaping out of the water. As we got closer, this pod of around 6 individuals was swimming all around the boat, which was awesome. We were able to stay with these dolphins for quite some time, having them close to the boat for almost half an hour. We had also spotted some minke whales from a distance, so we wanted to pursue them as well, so we sailed on. Unfortunately the minkes we spotted today were all very elusive and even though we spotted a total of 5 different minkes, we never got very close to them.

Report from Eldey: Monday morning started in wet, cloudy but calm way. Sea was perfectly flat without any sign of wind but with swell so from time to time we got some movements. Just after passing Grotta we stopped for minke whale but this individual was elusive so without wasting time we went further. No long later we found another minke whale and this time we could have nice view for surfacing animal next to our boat. When we were sure that all of passenger saw it we go further to play with dolphins. Pod of 8 white-beaked dolphins was swimming slowly and once even take dive under our boat so we could follow them through the water. Between dolphins another minke whale surfaced! On the way back we saw two more minke whales and one of the surprised appearing less then 10m next to the boat. We saw also another pod of 3 white-beaked dolphins passing by. What a successful day!

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. There is little to no wind but some rain. On board there are heated indoor areas but we also have overalls to keep you warm out on deck.
