Tour at 17:00
Report from Eldey: For the first in days I wasn´t freezing out in the guide box. I actually managed to go for the first hour of this tour without a pair of overalls! The wind was minimal but there was still a bit of swell. After going almost two hours without any sightings, all of a sudden all of the cetaceans turned up! We had 2 minke whales pop up around us and one of them was a quite curious large individual that approached us! Just as the minkes were losing interest in us, we had a small pod of 2 white-beaked dolphins continue the show. There was obviously a lot of food in the area for so much cetacean activity to be taking place. What another great day in the bay!

Report from Eldey: An overcast start which cleared up a little nearer the end of the tour. Sea conditions were good, a bit of a swell but not as much as the last days.White-beaked dolphins were the star of this tour, 3 pods. 2 were near to each other and came together in the end to mill and relax in a pod of about 10-11 individuals. Really nice to see them surfacing in unison and coming close to the boat also. The first cetacean was 2-3 harbour porpoises but they are usually more elusive and these individuals were no different. The last cetacean was an awesome minke whale that surfaced many times, at first surfacing fast and far but later calmed down and started to behave in an unusual way, lifting its head high out of the water. Not a spyhop or a head slap. Always interesting to watch these incredible and mysterious animal. We also enjoyed a nice variety of birds, gannets and puffins being the prefered of them. A little bit chilly but the autumn is here and this is normal but it was still very nice to be out in the ocean breeze.

Report from Eldey:The first tour of the day has been peaceful and enjoyable. We were sailing out from the old harbour with overcast sky and almost no wind. In our way out we were lucky to see the last atlantic puffin before they start they trip out there in the big blue for the whole winter. When we were sailing, we spotted some splashes in the distance meaning cetacean's presence and there they were a pod of 6-7 white-beaked dolphins with two calves! It was a mesmerizing moment. After enjoying their company, we sailed further out trying to find more animals but it seemed that today was a dolphin day as long as we found another pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins jumping out of the water and getting really close to the boat. In the way back home, we had a lovely smooth ride with nice views from Reykjavik.
