Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: This afternoon, the wind was blowing strong on faxa bay and the sky was covered in rainclouds. As we went out towards where we had seen the minke whale and the white-beaked dolphins earlier in the day, the weather turned out to be much worse than expected. Due to these unfavourable conditions, we turned back towards Reykjavik quite early and even though very few of us were able to see a minke whale surfacing once, there was no chance of having a closer look at it. This tour was quite and icelandic experience in rough seas that some certainly enjoyed more than others. We gave out complementary tickets valid for two years to our passengers and hope to see all of you again on a better tour both in terms of weather and sightings.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: In the morning, we went out from Reykjavik's harbour in slightly windy conditions, but the sea was not too rough. As we sailed out faxa bay, it took us about 50 minutes until we spotted a black dorsal fin coming out of the water. At first, we were not sure what it was, but then suddenly a Minke Whale surfaced close by and a second time right in front of us providing us with a wonderful look at this beautiful species. We waited a whhile to see the minke again, but where interrupted when a group of 4 to 6 White-beaked Dolphins was spotted within close distance. They moved very fast and it was hard to follow them as they were frequently changing direction. However, later on we found another group of 4 to 5 dolphins and we were very happy to see them coming very close to our boat so we could see the colour of their bodies shining through the water surface. Some even slightly jumped out of the water - What a nice morning experience in faxa bay!
