Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: In the afternoon, the sea was still perfectly calm and we directly went out towards where we had seen the Minke Whales in the morning. We were lucky, it took us not long until we spotted a black back of a Minke Whale again. It surfaced calmly several times making it easy for us to follow it. While watching it, we could see another individual in the distance. In total, we must have seen 3 individuals. A nice surprise inbetween were the cute Harbour Porpoises (5 to 10 in total) and a small family of three White-beaked Dolphins with a small calf - how cute! In the end of the tour, we had a Minke Whale saying goodbye to us on the way back to Reykjavik. What a wonderful tour in the beautiful bay of faxa that made all of us leave the boat with a smile.

Tour at 09.00

Report from Hafsúlan: In the morning, the weather was very nice and the sea perfectly calm. Like yesterday, the visibility was perfect and we were able to sea the volcano in the end of Snaefellsnes. We went our towards where we had seen the Minke Whales yesterday evening and indeed, it took us only about 40 minutes until we spotted the first black back of a Minke Whale. The animal was traveling very slowly and we were able to look at it for a long time. When we continued to find something else, another Minke showed up. It appeared to be a bit bigger than the alst one and we were able to see it surfacing very close a few times. It was towards the very end of the tour when we spotted big splashes in the distance, which turned out to be jumping White-beaked Dolphins. As we came closer, we were able to see a couple of them surfacing very close to the boat and we could see their bodies shining through the water as they swam close to us. A wondeful finish for this very nice morning tour!
