Report from Eldey: The ocean was extremely smooth this afternoon, as little to no wind was residing within the bay. The weather however was a little rainy to begin but cbecame dry after a short spell. The overcast sky provided great spotting conditions as well. Within thirty minutes of sailing a tall dorsal fin was sighted and we had encountered a pod of 5-6 white beaked dolphins. The pod consisted of a mother and calf that investigated the boat on a number of occasions. The pod was very calm with our presence, surfacing very slowly and approached the vessel frequently to within 20 metres. Later, they became a little more energetic and performed some leaps from the water. We spent a good amount of time with the dolphins before deciding to leave in search of some more cetaceans. We next found a group of 6-8 harbour porpoises but these proved quite difficult to watch and they were quick to disappear. The tour was great with some fantastic views of the dolphins with many smiling guests as they departed from the ship.
