Report from Eldey: We cannot get tired of Grindavik. South of Reykjaness is giving us exceptional sightings lately and our afternoon tour wasn't an exception. As soon as we left the harbor an strange blackish fin appeared and when we got closer we discovered that an enormous orca male was there, but he wasn't alone. We checked the surrounding area, knowing about the extremely social behavior of this species, looking forward to find a pod of them and we did. A beautiful pod of 5 orcas were surfacing in formation and a little calf was between them. After enjoying them for a while, we carried on with our trip and we spotted more blows in the distance. When we were getting closer, another orca male appeared and we could see another pod of 5 orcas, different from the previous one, traveling around. In our way back, while facing cold north winds, we were even luckier: a humpback whale popped up very close showing us her fluke. We thought that it was all when this humpback started to swim around us surfacing and diving extremely close to our boat making us feel very small but big at the same time by being give the chance to experiment such an amazing encounter. It was one of those days when you are truly happy and satisfied after an incredible tour.

Report from Eldey: The weather was great for spotting wildlife today, with blue skies and reasonably smooth seas. There was a strong wind blowing which did create a little bit of wind swell in more exposed areas. The tour started very quickly with the blow of a humpback whale visible once we were 5 minutes out of the harbour. The whale was very easy to watch, surfacing multiple times before lifting the fluke before performing deep dives. Once one whale dove, another surfaced quite soon after. We knew this was a different individual as the pattern on the underside of the fluke was different. After watching the whales for some time we decided to continue our search and just as we started to turn, the whale broke the surface, breaching high and displaying its size and power. A great morning out on the water.
