Report from Eldey: The wind picked-down in Faxafloi for our evening tour. We sailed towards a very productive area as we witnessed a great seabird activity. When we approached towards a feeding area a minke whale surprise us and we could she this animal riding with the waves. Later on, we continued our trip to encounter a second minke whale which was travelling. Nonetheless, both sightings were very fast and we decided to offer complimentary tickets to all of our passengers.

Report from Hafsulan: We knew that wind will pick up this afternoon so honestly we warned our passengers about rough conditions and possibility of moving bookings to another day. At the end we have a group of brave and adventurous people who were keen to see whales and get some splashes. Our captain did his best to move our boat slowly and steady between short waves. It was rocking a bit but most were enjoying the ride. Definitely it was worthy to go out as bay was full of life. There were numerous flocks of feeding birds and under one of them we found a minke whale. We were just moving from one flock to another when we saw a huge splashes not far away. It was a minke whale breaching! Adult animal, 7-8m long was throwing out his full body out of the water and even spinning in the air! Whale was jumping and jumping, almost like trying learn to fly. It was incredible!

Report from Eldey: We had to face some very strong winds in the afternoon tour, but at least we also had some sunshine for the beginning of the tour, although there was some rain as well. We searched in the bay for a while, until we came across 2 minke whales, feeding in close proximity to a flock of seabirds. However, the minkes were constantly moving and hard to follow. Then we saw a big splash in the distance and there was a breaching humpback whale! We saw that whale again, breaching a little closer to the boat, but still quite far away. Shortly after that it surfaced just in front of our boat. When we were starting to head back to the harbour we saw some more splashes in the distance, where another whale was breaching again and again. A great way to finish this rather rough tour.

Report from Hafsúlan: It´s hard to put into words how amazing this tour was. The bay was full of life, after an hours sailing flocks of birds filled the bay and with every flock, 2-3 feeding minke whales. We must have seen at least 8-10 minke whales in all. The best encounter was of one of our celebrity minke´s an individual called ´humpie´we have encountered every year since 2011, seen in a feeding frenzy close to the boat many times. It´s always fantastic to see our regulars but to see them do amazing behaviours like surface feeding, is just incredible.

Report from Eldey: Finally we could say that the summer was present on Iceland. Almost 20ºC and a light breeze from the north were our companions during the tour. While we enjoyed the sailing experience and the incredible scenery, we came across with several flocks of seabirds actively feeding. We waited in the area as we knew it was a good sign. After few moments 2 minke whales popped up. They were busy feeding but at some points they surfaced very close to us. So close that we could identify one of them as "Humpie", a well-known minke whale present in Faxafloi since 2011. The way back was simply beautiful and enjoyable.

Birds seen during our tours: eider duck, northern fulmar, atlantic puffin, black guillemot, common guillemot, razorbill, northern gannet, grat black-backed gull, lesser black-backed gull, herring gull, black-legged kittiwake, arctic skua, great skua.
We are running our first tours today from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík, sea conditions are favorable but some movement on the sea out there, the wind is suppose to pick up in the afternoon so afternoon tours are pending.
