Tour status: RUNNING

Tour at 20:30

Report from Elding: We were off to a difficult start on this tour, but our luck quickly changed an hour into sailing, when we had our first encounter with a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins! Even though it was an elusive pod, it led us on the tracks of a humpback whale, that surfaced several times, very close to the boat, We saw the fluke of this magnificent creature at least twice after it initially surfaced next to our boat, less than 50 meters away from us. It was a beautiful sight for all our passengers. On our way back to the harbour, we were entertained by our on-board troubadour, who sang a few songs, accompanied by the guitar.

Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: The rain came as passengers boarded the boats, overalls came in use to stay dry and warm. It stayed dry forthe majority of the tour with the occasional shower. We travelled to the same area as before and once again it was successful, big blow from a humpback whale was the first sighting and we were able to follow it for a while and got some nice pictures of the flukes as they dove. As other boats approached we left and got a quick glimpse of a minke whale but only a few passengers saw it. A small pod of 3 harbour porpoises crossed our path just 10m from our boat, always cute and fun to watch. Another humpback whale was found after about 20minutes of sailing, an individual acting strangly, bending the back and splashing around a bit. The wonders of whales and the mysteries of their activities is why they are so fasinating.

Tour at 14:00

Report from Hafsulan: We sailed out with the wind on our back, standing on the top deck in short sleeves, the sun in the face, this could just become a whale of a tour! Far out we spotted other whale watching boats and soon a huge blow, the first humpback whale of this tour. We could stay with it for quite some time, it even came in close and surfaced several times next to us. In the distance we saw as well minke whales popping up again and again, some traveling, others feeding in-between the huge seabird flocks. After some time we decided to go on and at that moment another humpback crossed our path. It just became better and better, we saw several minke whales (6-7) but none of them really close. At one moment even a pot of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins came in to say hello. But the show got definitely stolen by a total of 5 humpback whales, some lunge feeding really close to the boat. An unforgettable afternoon out at sea!

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The weather was perfect for whalewatching, even counting with some sparks of sun! To match the lovely weather this tour turned out to be incredible. After not to long of a waiting to spot our first animals, through this journey we were able to spot 3 humpback whales and about 6 minke whales, spread out through time. We were surrounded by spots with a lot of bird activity, making it easier to add up sightings. We were able to enjoy every sighting for a long while and observing both species feeding a few times!

Tour at 10:00

Report from Hafsulan: Slightly choppy waters but beautiful sunshine as we left the harbour this morning. Soon enough, we had our first sighting of the day when we saw a humpback whale surface a couple of times before showing its fluke and going for a deeper dive. After that it was a game of hide and seek that started with the whale, as we saw it reappear twice before eventually loosing track of it. As we continued circling the area, the same humpback reappeared once more, this time much closer to the boat, and this time, there was a minke whale as well, right next to it, under a flock of bird. An overall really enjoyable tour out in the bay of Faxa this morning!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: A lovely morning sailing, it was a little overcast t start the day but soon the sun came out and sunscreen was put on. The sea was calm but picked up a little later on. In all a very nice and comfortable tour. We sailed out to the area, proven to be very productive over the last days and once again it didn't disappoint. First cetacean of the tour was a minke whale, came up many times but at the beginning hard to show the passengers as it was surfacing fast and unpredictably. Soon flock of seabirds gathered and under one flock a juvenile minke whale, an amazing whale that really showed of to the passengers. We watched in amazement when a big blow was spotted, a humpback whale fluke suddenly appeared above the surface and went down, 12 minutes later the humpback was spotted again and did a big breach (jumped out the water) a wonderful end to a very productive tour.
