Tour at 17:00 and 19:00: Canceled
Tour at 14:00
Report from Eldey: The wind picked up since the morning, so we went further north to be sheltered by mount Esja and Akrafjall, so the way out was quite calm with the wind in our backs. Two harbour porpoises crossed our paths, some of us saw them for a moment. For the way back we decided for a more southern route to be able to scan a broader area, for which we had some higher waves. The tour felt adventurous and the northern atlantic showed us some of its power, the Icelandic weather its strength. Isn‘t it good sometimes to be reminded of how small we humans are, only a tiny piece in natures game. Complimentary tickets were offered.

Report from Hafsulan: We sailed out of Reykjavik under a bit of wind and an overcast sky this morning. Our captain kept the boat close to the coast, sheltering us from the wind and swell, making the cruise very enjoyable. We searched the area for a while and eventually came across a pod od at least 5 harbour porpoises that surfaced a few times close to the boat. Later on in the tour, we saw another pod of the same species with at least 3 individuals, but this one was more difficult to see for most of our passengers as they did not approach the boat. We continued our search as we went back to the harbour but were unfortunately unsuccessful in spotting larger cetaceans, in spite of all our efforts. For this reason, we offered complimentary tickets to all of our passengers, thus giving them another chance to try their luck at whale-watching for free, anytime in the next two years.

Report from Eldey: Eastery winds and rainy conditions today on our 9am tour. The sea´s were good and the sailing out was smooth and comfortable and we went to our usual sighting area, northern gannets, northern fulmars, a fishing vessel and other whale watching boats were also around indicating a productive area. Suddenly a blow was spotted, a fast surfacing minke whale just about 100m from our bow heading away from us. It was so fast that some passengers were finding it difficult to see it. Luckily after 20 minutes of more searching a small dorsal fin was spotted under a few gannets and soon the same or a different minke whale, a very small individual that surfaced just 20m from our boat and 3 times before going from a longer deeper dive. After some waiting we had to start travelling back to land, first travelling NE towards hvalfjörður to gain more shelter from the mountains then back to port. It was a difficult tour and ever though those outside got a good look at the minke whale there were many inside that didn´t. We decided to offer complimentary tickets for passengers to return and try their luck again on another tour.
