Report from from Eldey: Winds picked up this afternoon so we decided to take a different route to try and make the tour as comfortable as possible. We travelled south towards the Reykjanes Peninsula, it was weather was constantly interchangable; sunny, raining, sunny raining. Stong winds with even stronger gusts from time to time. It was challenging and yet fun and beautiful. Double rainbows arched behind us, rain falling in the distance and rays of sun fighting through the dark ominous clouds. Soaring fulmars and gannets were lit up and the seas were choppy with a really Icelandic feel. Whales were difficult, one or maybe two seen but only by crew and only once each. We did our best to search the areas spotted but they were not in the mood. All we could do was offer our passengers complimentary tickets to try again and we hope they do. A wild but beautiful ride.

Report from Elding: This should become a truly Icelandic experience for our passengers! As the wind was increasing we decided to start this tour from the old harbour in Reykjavik and end it in Hafnafjordur. We sailed out into the wind facing quick rain showers once in a while. Unfortunately we did not see much of wildlife during this tour, even the amount of seabirds was really low. Unfortunately this is the down side and at the same time exiting part of working with wildlife, you never know what is awaiting you. In the end we gave everyone complimentary tickets to come back on one of our tours and hopefully be more lucky the next time!

Report from Eldey: We sailed out from Reykjavik, in strong wind, but confident we were going to have a good experience. The first cetaceans we saw on the tour were 20-30 harbor porpoises. It was great to see this many small porpoises splashing right next to the boat, as they were traveling. Then we heard from our other boat Elding, that they had found a pod of dolphins, and we immediately changed direction and went to check it out. It was a success, and we saw a pod of 3-5 white-beaked dolphins. They were feeding and were in a area full of hundreds of northern gannets. It was an incredible sight, with the gannets diving right next to us, sunshine and the dolphins leaping and jumping out of the water.

Report from Elding: After windy night we were aware that sea might be rough. It was still windy but water was quite calm. From the begging we saw many sea birds, mostly fulmars gliding on the wind and northern gannets. We were following them to the rich in fish areas and then we saw first splashes. We found pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins. After nice encounter we went further just to find a second, larger pod. And later one another pod of dolphins - last group was very large and spreaded but it might be even more than 20 of dolphins swimming around us! Dolphinetely great morning !

We are running from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. We still have some wind, and the sea is still a bit rough from the harsh winds yesterday. For 13 and 14 o´clock tours, the return will be from Hafnarfjordur where we will drive our guests back to the Old Harbour in Reykjavik. We have complimentary seasickness tablets for those who may want it, and make sure to use our warm overalls on the boat. Further information for the afternoon tours will be announced around noon.
