Report from Eldey: We had a beautiful, partially overcast, but dry afternoon. The sea was calm with a cool easterly breeze. On our journey offshore we spotted a few scattered, flocks of northern fulmars resting on the water as well as a few pairs of eider ducks. We wanted to check out the same area as this morning to hopefully see ´Stingray´the humpback whale and we were so pleased to find it still hanging around. First we spotted the blow atleast 1km away and when approaching the animal we could observe it being very chilled out, surfacing at regular intervals, but not actively deep diving. Only after 20 minutes, the animal started to show it´s fluke indicating a deeper dive. So we were able to sail with the whale for about 30 to 40 minutes before we had to start heading back to port. It was fantastic to see this whale again and we hope it stays around for us tomorrow. - Megan Whittaker

Report from Eldey: It's just wonderful how lovely the weather has turned for us these last few days. Despite the winds picking up, the sea was still very calm and we could see as far into the distance as Snæfellsjökull, the largest volcano of Iceland which is 100km in a straight line from Reykjavík!! It was after about an hour of sailing that we saw a blow more than 1 kilometer in the distance that we of course turned towards to get closer. It turned out to be the blow of a beautiful humpback whale that was surfacing over and over, in such a proximity to our boat and so calmly it was truly special. What made it most special for all of us at Elding though is the fact that this is a humpback we haven't seen since the year 2014, named ´Stingray´. So to see it having returned to Faxafloi is fascinating!!! - Sabrina Voswinkel

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today at 9:00 & 13:00. There could always be some movement out on the bay, so if you are prone to seasickness, we have seasickness tablets free of charge.
