Report from Elding: What an unusual tour we had. We were just leaving the harbour when we got a call about ceteacean´s presence nearby. We were bitten by curiosity and once we approached the area we discovered three humpback whales. They weren´t alone as a group of scientists led by Edda Elísabet Magnúsdóttir, an icelandic cetologist, and skippered by Reynar Óttosson, CEO of Whale Safari our sister company, were following them. They were trying to take a biopsy and after a long chase they got the shot. We followed the whole process and we were amazed with their work as well as with the presence of the humpback whales. The animals weren´t the only one performing a nice show as the scenery was impressive with many rainbows and the nicest sunset ever seen in the harbour.

Report from Elding: We continued very sunny into our afternoon tour. The wind was picking up though and blew into our faces for the whole duration of the tour. We went into the direction another whale watching boat saw a humpback whale just 30 minutes earlier and got lucky to find the same individual like this morning. It was still busy lunge feeding very close to the surface. So it showed us its expanded throat grooves while doing so. After enjoying this fantastic behaviour, we also encountered at least one very elusive minke whale. And while trying to spot it again, a great skua was seen in action, chasing a kittiwake for its prey. What a great spectacle to observe!

Report from Elding: : Even though we had a windy morning, we have had an amazing day exploring Faxafloi. Lots of birds were spotted in our way and few blows caught our attention. Once we slowed down we discovered 1 minke whale actively feeding and later a humpback whale as well. This individual was more curious about us and we could see it surfacing several times at the same time it was feeding. Overall, it was a great morning to be out there.
